Sencia's Company History

Founded in 2001

Sencia Canada Ltd. was founded on June 6, 2001 in Thunder Bay, Ontario by Joe Quaresima and Irene Kozlowski.  From the onset, these founding members were one of the first to pioneer the SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) revolution by “leasing” their applications on an annual basis to clients and providing on-going, impeccable service to ensure their customer’s goals were met.  

Sencia’s systems are sought after by clients who want to be able to utilize powerful SaaS solutions while still being able to add custom configurations or modules that help with their unique business cases.  Flexible, scalable, and adaptable solutions with a expert team of skilled technicians allows Sencia to provide the best of both worlds to its customer base.

Named as a "Gurus of Growth" - 2004

Only three years after being founded, Sencia was named by Northern Ontario Business Magazine as a "Guru of Growth" and one of the "Top 10 Hottest Companies of the North."  Today, we continue to achieve many more goals and work with companies from various industries world-wide. From large pharma to nuclear plants or networks and businesses in our own backyard – we treat every customer’s need with the same excellent service.  For this reason, our client retention is difficult to compete with.  We keep our customers because we have earned their trust. Their trust in product and their trust in service.  Our partnership mentality can be felt throughout the organization.  

Recipient of “Ontario Global Trader” Award - 2004

Sencia Canada Ltd. was named “Ontario Global Trader” by the Ontario Government for market expansion and exporting. It was the first of many awards recognizing the contributions we make to Northern Ontario and proving that companies can be excellent exporters regardless of its location as long as their services and products are in demand. Today, approximately 40 percent of revenues are from foreign markets.

Recipient of 2006 Business Excellence Award

The Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce recognized Sencia Canada Ltd. as having achieved business excellence. Our reputation in our community and throughout the communities we work in is of the utmost importance. Ensuring we never over promise and always deliver on our word is a common thread among all staff members. Integrity, honesty, reliability and professionalism is key to ensure that our clients can depend on us when we give them our word.

Irene Kozlowski winner of “Influential Woman of the Year Award” - 2008

In 2008, Irene Kozlowski was the recipient of the 10th Annual Award for Northern Ontario Business and named “Influential Woman of the Year – Private Sector”.  Still looking back, Irene says it was one of her most memorable moments as her family and staff was able to be guests at her table. “There are some events in life that you’ll always remember”, says Irene, “and this was one of the fondest because it marked an achievement that I felt so grateful to those who had sacrificed so much to see this dream come to fruition.”

Acquisition of MySmartGift

Sencia Canada Ltd. and Lowerys Office Supplies officially acquired MySmartGift, a gift card and loyalty card system developed in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Several upgrades were made to the system's functionality and security.

Joe Quaresima, winner of the Northwestern Ontario Visionary Award (NOVA) Top 40 Under 40 - 2016

The NOVA Awards is a bi-annual event that celebrates a rich array of young talent in the Northwestern Ontario region. In 2016, Joe Quaresima was honoured with an award to which he said, "validates the continuing hard work and commitment of Sencia Canada Ltd. in achieving client success and fullfillment."

Celebrating 16 Years in Business, 2017

Each year marks a new milestone and Sencia Canada Ltd. is pleased to be in its 17th year in business. Throughout the years, we have been providing our loyal clients with mature, scalable solutions that are reliable and meet industry standards. Our promise is to continue to provide the impeccable services our clients have learned to expect from a skillful team. With client data security being this year’s focus, we have implemented a new Quality Management System that meets and exceeds the requirements outlined in ISO 9001: 2015.

Today, Sencia Canada Ltd. provides web-based services to clients in Canada, America and Europe. One of the most important achievements the company has continually kept its promise is by providing SaaS solutions that provide flexibility to meet the business cases of our clientele. In addition, all of Sencia’s solutions are scalability that allows for future growth. We’re pleased to play a large part of our client’s success.
